Absence Explanation

So, I started this blog months ago and then never came back to it.  Summer has been interesting for me.  I've read quite a bit, but we've also been dealing with cancer in my family.  You always hear about cancer and how it affects people but until you have to deal with it personally you just don't realize the toll on all involved.  My family is taking each day at a time, and so far it looks like my father is winning his battle.  On to all things bookish...I said all that to help explain my reading rut this summer.  I have started so many books without finishing many.  This week my goal is to finish reading The Giver again before the movie hits theatres.  I just finished the book Pay It Forward.  I loved the movie and felt I needed something inspirational but also provide tears.  The tears seem to help me cope with my every day life, which seems odd in many ways.  I seem to crave sadness in the books I'm reading, instead of escaping the sadness I'm surrounded by daily.  I promised myself that this is my year to blog and become more active on Twitter.  Here's to accomplishing that goal!

So...I decided to join in bout of books this week, and one of my goals is to create a blog.  Excited but a little cautious to see how this will go...
